Sylvia I. Bator, 79, of Tilbury Terrence and formerly of Edwardsville, entered into eternal life Friday, May 16, 2014, at the home of her sister, Teresa Saluski of Plymouth.

Sylvia was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Edwardsville. She was the daughter of the late John Joseph Bator and Florence Ziko Bator. Sylvia was a graduate of Edwardsville High School and received her B.A. from Wilkes University and a Master's degree in guidance counseling at the University of Scranton. She was employed and retired from Lake-Lehman School District as a guidance counsellor. She was a receptionist at the Russin Funeral Homes, Plains Township and Edwardsville. Sylvia was an avid reader and needlepoint artist. Her passion in life was her dedicated love of her family.
She was a former lector at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Kingston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Carl Bator; brother-in-law, Johm J. Saluski; and several aunts and uncles.
Surviving, in addition to her sister, Teresa, are nieces, Janice (David) Leiby, Marie (Peter) Halis; sister-in-law, Minnie Bator, and nieces, Jenny (Eric) Jones, Brett (Tim) Riordon, and nephew, John Bator.; her aunt, Lottie Ziko.; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Faustina Parish at St. Mary's of Czestochowa Catholic Church, 1030 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. James Nash, pastor, and the Rev. Joseph Kakarekla as co-celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery, Larksville.
Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Faustina Parish, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, PA 18634.
