Whitney E. Lara, 58, of Lincoln Plaza Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday, May 16, 2014, at Riverside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Taylor.

Born in New York City, he was the son of the late William and Natalie Nickpoli Lara.

He was formerly employed by Boscov's, Wilkes-Barre, and was their "Super Santa." His Ho, Ho, Ho resounded throughout the store.

Whitney was a member of the Nathan Denison Advocates, a fan of the New York Mets, and loved watching wrestling and old westerns on televison.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of St. Clement and St. Peter, Wilkes-Barre, and had sung in its choir. He is now singing in the Angel Choir.

Whitney is survived by his best friends, Betty St. Martin, Rollie and Robert Moll, and his loving cat, "Bob."

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612.
