Donald (Don) J. Godek of Plymouth passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

A life resident of Plymouth, he was a graduate of Plymouth High School, where he played football. He received a football scholarship and graduated from Temple University.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had been a member and past chaplain with the American Legion, Shawnee Post 463, Plymouth. He was also a member of the TATRA Club.
Don was an active member of Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, Plymouth, where he was very active with many church functions and projects for fundraising. He was also a member of the parish choir and he served on several committees in various capacities over the years.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Luzerne County Sheriff's Department as captain, under the supervision of Frank Jagodinski.
Throughout his life, Don greatly enjoyed playing and watching all types of sports.
Don was the last of nine siblings.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, the former Dolores Stonik; daughter, Jody Tompkins and her husband, James, Dallas; grandson, and the apple of Pop-Pop's eye, Logan Palmer; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, 278 E. Main St., Plymouth.
Private interment will be held in the parish cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are by S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.
