Robert North Cartier, 87, formerly of Dallas, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Okeechobee, Fla.

He was born in Winooski, Vermont, to Alphonse and Mary North Cartier.

Mr. Cartier proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Before retiring, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as a radar technician.

He was a member of the Dallas Kiwanis, a Boy Scout leader in Dallas, and a life member fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus.

A seasonal resident of Florida since 1996, he moved there permanently in 2010. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he enjoyed volunteering. He also enjoyed playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Charlie Yurkon.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peg Cartier, Okeechobee; son, Robert Cartier (Kim), Glen Rock; six daughters, Cheryl Alliger (Bruce), Okeechobee; Mary Ellen Dillon (John), Gastonia, North Carolina; Carol Yurkon, Dallas; Karen Cartier (Rick Frantz), Dallas; Barbara Kreidler (Jim), Dallas; and Deborah Kearney (Tom), Mahwah, New Jersey; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Alphonse Cartier Jr. (Pauline), Clearwater, Fla.

A private prayer service will be held from Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with the Rev. Mr. Thomas M. Cesarini officiating.

Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
