Mary A. Shymansky, 89, of Lyndwood, Hanover Township, died peacefully Thursday, June 5, 2014, in the presence of her loving family.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on Feb. 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Antionette P. Balavage.
A homemaker for most of her life, Mary took great pride in tending to the daily needs of her home and family.
In her earlier years, Mary worked at the N.Y.A. plant in New York and the garment industry. She enjoyed many years working at her sister's family restaurant in Alden.
She was a faithful Catholic, devoted to the St. Ann's Novena, and a life member of the former St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township. One of her greatest joys was frying potato pancakes at the annual parish bazaar.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and spending time with family and friends. Her unyielding faith, hope, grace and quiet inner strength served as the finest example to her daughter and grandchildren. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her beautiful spirit will always live in the hearts of her loved ones.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Shymansky; son, Ronald R. Shymansky; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia and her husband, Jack, Larksville; grandchildren, Dr. Eric Pape and his wife, Dr. Danielle Pocello, Astoria, N.Y.; and Sara Pape, Hanover Township; sister, Helen Shilkoski, Wilkes Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Luke's Villa for their compassionate care and loving support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Muhlenburg.
