Helen M. Fasciana, 82, of Pittston passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, in Wesley Village United Methodist Homes, Jenkins Township, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Mike, preceded her in death in December 2012.

Born in Pittston on Jan. 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Vera Troback Occhiato.

Helen was a graduate of Pittston Township High School and Empire Beauty School. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for many years in the Browntown section of Pittston. She also worked at Pomeroy's, now Bon-Ton, for 25 years in the handbags and jewelry departments until retirement.

She was a member of the former St. Rocco's Parish, Pittston, and its Christian Mothers Society.

Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She lived for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed family vacations in South Carolina and spending time with her husband. She was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals for all of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews, who will all find comfort in the memories they have, knowing that she is at peace and with her loving husband, Mike.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Semon, and her sister, Katharine Mecadon.

Surviving are her children, Mary Ellen Semon, Jessup; Dr. Guy Michael Fasciana and his wife, Patti, Pittston Township; Francis Fasciana and his wife, Joanne, West Pittston; Michele Amato and her husband, Michael, West Wyoming; and Lisa Zuba and her husband, Albert, Dupont; grandchildren, David, Gregory and Matthew Semon; Michael Fasciana, Elizabeth Daley and her husband, Joe, Melissa Fasciana; Amanda, Joseph and Taryn Fasciana; Christina, Michael and Maria Amato; Albert and Dana Zuba; sister, Rosemary Chiumento Mendola and her husband, Sam, Pittston Township; sisters-in-law, Josephine Fasciana, Exeter; and Mary Morgan, Pittston; brother-in-law, Louis Fasciana, Pittston; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff at Wesley Village and Compassionate Care Hospice, as well as to Dr. Joseph Radzwilka. They would like to thank her loving and dedicated sister, Rosemary Chiumento Mendola, for the exceptional love and care that she provided to their mother without hesitation.

Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday from Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont.

Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
