John Bolin, 45, of Wyoming passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.

Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late John and Lucille (Mauriello) Bolin. A graduate of Bishop O'Reilly, Class of 1987, he also attended College Misericordia. In the family tradition, John entered into the floral business in 1988 and continued to run Flowers by Lucille after his mother's passing.

John was very civic-minded. He was a member of the Wyoming Area School Board, having served as president. He was vice president of Wyoming Hose Company No. 1, president of the Wyoming Recreation Board and a board member of the Wyoming Free Library. He also participated on the Luzerne County Tax Committee, was a member of the Luzerne County Democratic Committee and the Luzerne County Housing Authority.

He is survived by his rock in any storm, Danielle Tirpak; sisters, Ann Marie Lawrence and her husband, Dr. Stephen, West Pittston; and Catherine Onzik and her husband, Joe, Swoyersville; a brother, Carmen and his wife, Mary Beth, Wyoming; nephews, Joseph and Matthew Onzik, Randy, Jonathan and Timmy Lawrence and Shane Bolin; nieces, Rena and Lanna Bolin; great-nieces, Kendyl and Gabriella; and his dogs, McKenzie, Leo, Tyler, Katie, Madison and Kendall.

John was a true friend and will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony of Padua Church of St. Barbara's Parish, 28 Memorial Ave., Exeter.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday in Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Church.
