Doris Sando, 84, former resident of Hunlock Creek, passed away in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on June 12, 2014.

She was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ethel Rosengrant.
Doris was a graduate of Shickshinny High School. She was employed for many years at Lake-Lehman High School in food service. She was a member of the Roaring Brook Baptist Church, Hunlock Creek.
She traveled extensively in Europe. Doris was a stock car driver in the Powder Puff Derby at Hunlock Creek and also Bone Stadium Race Course. She loved motorcycle riding.
Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly Sando, Wilkes-Barre; son, Robert Sando, Hunlock Creek; grandchildren, Melissa Kilborne and Megan Lamb; niece, Susan Rosengrant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence T. Sando Sr., and brothers, Warren, Harold and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, with her pastor, the Rev. Dan Brubaker officiating.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Interment will be in Orcutt Cemetery, Noxen.
