Lorraine Richards (née Elmy) of Dallas passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Erma Elmy. She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Class of 1948.

She retired in 2002 from Meals on Wheels of Wyoming Valley, where she had served as coordinator.

Lorraine was a member of Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston, where she had served on various task forces. She was an active member of Mary's Group, Adult Fellowship and volunteered for the West Side Food Bank. She was a member of the Irem Ladies Auxiliary, Irem Antique and Car Ladies.

She was a 40-year member of the Tuesday Lunch Group Girls and dearly enjoyed their company, along with her monthly luncheons with her Nanticoke classmates. She was blessed by having many friends and treasured each and every one.

She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William O. Richards, and her brother, George Elmy.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Karen R. Shuster and husband, Scott, Dallas; and Charlot R. Byck and husband, Louis, Huntingdon Valley; son, William W., Dallas; grandchildren, David and Eric Byck and Loren and William O. Richards II; sister, Jean Fuller and husband, Paul; brother, Robert Elmy and wife, Mary; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from Church of Christ Uniting, Market Street and Sprague Avenue, Kingston, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Gommer officiating.

The interment will be held in Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, and at the church from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ Uniting, 190 S. Sprague Ave., Kingston, PA 18704.
