William L. Bevan, 91, of West Wyoming passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Wyoming, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Dennis Bevan. He was educated in Wyoming schools.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. During his military service, he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

After the military, for many years he resided in New Jersey where he was employed as a painter in Lions, N.J., and as a nursing assistant. When he relocated back to the area, he was employed as a nursing assistant by Valley Crest Nursing Home, Plains Township.

He was a member of St. Monica's Parish of West Wyoming, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the DAV.

Preceding him in death were his wife, the former Grace Viccica, and sister, Mary Kindt.

Surviving is his daughter, Sarah Bevan, West Wyoming.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. There will be no calling hours.
