Mary Ann D'Amato of Pittston Township passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, after her year-long battle with cancer, at Geisinger Hospice Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and Empire Beauty School and was proprietor of Glamor of Hollywood, Scranton, along with her mother, Ann Marie Casey.

She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, where she was a volunteer at the elementary school and church picnic. Mary Ann had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary with her mom for more than 20 years at afternoon Mass at St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston. She and her mother also made hundreds of rosaries for the missions and prisoners.

Mary Ann loved traveling with her family to many religious sites, including The Holy Land, Medjugorje and the Vatican.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Henry D'Amato; her parents, Theodore and Ann Marie Casey, Pittston Township; and her children, Christina Ann McGuire, Anthony D'Amato and John Paul D'Amato.

Her love revolved around raising her children, taking care of her parents and enjoying life with her husband of 31 years. "She was my first, my last, and my everything, and the answer to all my dreams."

Her family wishes to thank everyone for their devoted prayers as she fought her courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. We would also like to thank Dr. Christian Adonizio, P.A. Cindy Scott, D.O. Robert Yanoshak and Dr. Samir Patel of Geisinger Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Our special thanks to all the dedicated nurses and staff of the Henry Cancer Center for their special service they provided to Mary Ann.
