Catherine C. Wajers, 80, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2014, at Commonwealth Hospice Care, St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre.

Catherine was born and raised in Ashley, where she graduated from Ashley High School, lived much of her life and raised her family. In her later years, she lived in Exeter and spent her last five years as a resident at the Village at Greenbriar in Dallas.

Prior to Catherine's retirement, she spent many years working in the Recorder of Deeds office at the Luzerne County Courthouse, but her premier profession was being a housewife and mother. Her most beloved role in life was being called "Nanty." Nothing made her smile more than seeing and hearing from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Catherine was married to Leonard "Hep" Wajer, who died in September 1994, after celebrating their 41st wedding anniversary in October 1993.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Zardecki, Dallas; Mary Kay (Mae) Zekoski, Forty Fort; Karen Martin, Reno, Nev.; Patricia (Trish) Carr, Dallas; Susan Wajers, Forty Fort; and Donna Majikes, Exeter; sister, Carolyn Yatko, Scranton; and brother, Michael Dzanko, Shaverton; nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew Zardecki; Jessica Stambaugh, Allison Tigue, Brendan and Austin Carr; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Ella Stambaugh and Declan Tigue.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home, Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre.
