Raymond Piavis, 84, of Medford, N.J., passed away peacefully Friday, June 20, 2014, at the Medford Care Center.

Born in Nanticoke, Raymond resided in Medford, N.J., for more than 53 years.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Raymond received his associate degree from Rutgers University.

He was a master gardener, and belonged to the Rutgers Cooperative, the extension service and the Camden County Growers Association. Raymond was a former member of the Christmas Tree Growers Association and the New Jersey Vegetable Growers Association. He also enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing with the Buck Hunter's Club in New York and Maine.

He was the husband of the late Bernice Maxine Piavis; and brother of the late George, Walter Jr. and Bernard Piavis, and Doris Orr.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert W. Sr. and Patricia Piavis; his sister, Florence Piavis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, N.J.
