Bernard W. Luckenbach, 91, of Gaithersburg, Md., and formerly of Plains Township, passed away Monday evening, June 23, 2014, in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Md.

Born in Plains Township, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Alexandra (Bucko) Luckenbach.
Bernard attended Plains Memorial High School, and was an Army Veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.
After his discharge from the Army, he was employed by Miner Hillard and then as a construction foreman in various projects in the area, including the Wilkes & Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lottie Serafin, on Nov. 16, 1998; brothers, Taffil, Edmund, Norbert, Alfred and infant brother Alexander; and sisters, Alice Hydock, Lillian Sobolewski and Jessie Slabinski.
Surviving are his children, Bernice Doran and her husband, John, Darnestown, Md.; and Raymond Luckenbach and his wife, Susan, Annandale, Va.; grandchildren, Laralyn Gill and her husband, Raj, Kerry Doran and Kimberly Zaccaria and her husband, Justin; and great-grandchildren, Dakota Golliday, Ryan, Jack and Lauryn Gill and Giuliana, Dominic and Isabella Zaccaria.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township.
Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Wyoming.
