Richard Otto Sarmonis, 67, of Trucksville passed away suddenly Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home.

Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Otto and Lillian Sarmonis. Richard was a graduate of Lehman High School, attended Penn State University and attained a bachelor's degree in business from Wilkes University.

He was formerly employed by General Foods, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of Boy Scouts of America and retired in 2008 from Leeward Construction.

Richard was a member of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife, the former Sandra Gayeski.

Surviving are his son, Shaun Sarmonis and wife, Mary, Exeter; daughter, Dina Sarmonis, Dallas; grandchildren, Julia Evelyn Sarmonis, Wyatt and Sierra Teetsel; brother, Peter Sarmonis, Dallas; longtime friend, Susan Roese, Shavertown; her daughters, Kristen Angelicola, Amber Rogers, Tiffany Roese; stepdaughter, Lisa Gentile, Bayshore, N.Y.; and 13 step-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Therese's Church, Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, Shavertown. The Rev. James J. Paisley will officiate. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
