Floyd Davis, 81, of Moosic passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, in Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Moosic, he was the son of the late John and Isabell Brown Davis. He was a graduate of Moosic High School.
He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
For more than 45 years, he was employed by Standard Beef, Scranton, which later became Made Rite Steak Co., Dunmore.
He was a member of American Legion Post 585, Duryea, and the Meat Cutters Union.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gen. Sid Davis, and sisters, Louise Evans and Elizabeth McGuire.
Floyd and his wife, the former Lucille Nowakowski, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past Nov. 12.
Also surviving are his daughter, Debbie Davis, Moosic; sister, Anna Cavalari, Connecticut; sister, Isabell Ciliberto, Pittston; nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Andrew Sinnott. American Legion Post 585, Duryea, will conduct military services at 7 p.m.
Funeral services and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea, by the Rev. Andrew Sinnott. Anyone attending the funeral services are asked to go directly to the cemetery the afternoon of the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
