James P. Dougherty of Nanticoke and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 4, 2014, at home.

Born Feb. 17, 1954 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Charles and Shirley Kocher Dougherty. He was a graduate of Meyers High School, Class of 1972, and King's College in 1980.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam conflict. Jim was a clerk at various hotels including Ramada, Wilkes-Barre, East Mountain Inn, Plains Township, and Comfort Inn, Wilkes-Barre Township.
He is survived by his wife, the former Elaine Karis; sons, James, Wilkes-Barre; Thomas, Plymouth; Paul, Nanticoke; brothers, Charles, West Chester; Martin, Sun City West, Ariz.; Sean, Jenkins Township; sisters, Kathleen Kisel, Wilkes-Barre; Rosemary Jones, Hanover Township; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
