Charles B. Thomas of Harding passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014.

He was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Inkerman. He was the son of the late George and Anna Barowsky Tomashunas. He was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School.

In his earlier years Charlie and his wife, Eileen, resided in New Jersey, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Ford Motor Co. in Mawah, N.J., for 25 years prior to his retirement.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years on the cruiser USS Philadelphia during World War II.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Eileen, in 1986; and beloved brother, Leonard, in 2013.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Carmen Tomashunas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Charlie was the adventurous type as he loved traveling throughout the country.

He was also a great bird watcher and an avid reader.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes and making people laugh.

Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family who will miss him deeply as he was such a kind and generous person.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Little Flower Manor, including the Carmelite Sisters, who showed kindness and compassion toward Charles during his stay at the facility.

Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.
