John J. Wardzel, 90, of Larksville passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral services for John will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Church, Nesbitt Street, Larksville.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John was born June 11, 1924, in Bardejov, Czechoslovakia, to John and Sophie Wardzel. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in Saipan. He graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in chemical engineering in 1952.
On Dec. 27, 1950, he married the former Geraldine Cragle of Plymouth.
John retired from Tenneco Corp. in 1984.
He enjoyed fly fishing and spent much of his time exploring the trout streams of New York and Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed reading, using his computer and saying the rosary.
John is survived by his wife, Geraldine, of 63 years; a daughter, Jeanne Warzdel Tryfonos and her husband, Andrew, and their two children, Stephanie and Christopher, Bolivia, N.C.; a son, John R. and his wife, Filomena, Alpharetta, Ga.; his sisters, Katherine Sczepanski and Teresa Clark, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophie, and his brother, Joseph.
