Peggy J. Blaum of Dauphin Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born Dec. 19, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Eugene and Anna Wright Hughes, she attended St. Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre.

She was formerly employed by Neisners Department Store, The Boston Store and Boscov's Department Store prior to retiring in 2009.

A loving mother and grandmother, she also enjoyed playing bingo throughout the Wyoming Valley, and her scratch-off lottery tickets.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception and also a former member of St. Therese Church, Wilkes- Barre, until their closing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Blaum, in 1995.

She is survived by her children, Molly and her husband, Paul Pearson, Wilkes-Barre, with whom she resided; Ned and his wife, Joan Blaum, Hanover Township; Nancy and her husband, Matt Petlock, Mountain Top; and Amy and her husband, Matthew Martin, Mountain Top; grandchildren, David Pearson, Samantha, Jacob and Alex Martin, Paige Petlock, George Wanyo and Sara Wanyo Allen; great-grandchildren, Justus Wanyo, Adam Kovaleski, Mackenzie Wayno, Mercedes Keller and Torrence Peck; sisters, Mollie Smith, Wilkes-Barre; and Nancy Revitt, Washington, N.J.; brothers, Jack Hughes, Easton; and Dick Hughes, Hanover Township; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception.

Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
