Helen A. Hokien, 84, of Duryea passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at her home.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Trybus Kuzara. She attended Taylor High School.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the area garment industry for 28 years.
She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. She was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and eating out.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John, and sister, Eleanor Schultz-Portanova.
She and her husband, Henry, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past May 26.
Also surviving are her son, Richard Hokien, Duryea; daughter, Patricia Hokien-Poot and her husband, Jaap, the Netherlands; grandchildren, Kaleena, Ricky, Billy, Tanja and Jaap; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Samantha; brother, Frank Kuzara and his wife, Genvieve, Texas; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea, with the Rev. Andrew Sinnott officiating.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
