Rita Ann Baranowski, 87, of Wilkes-Barre Township passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving son, David. She was the widow of John B. Baranowski.

Rita was born April 20, 1927, in Wilkes-Barre Township. She was the daughter of the late Stephen Robinski and Elizabeth Miller Robinski. She was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School.

She was employed as a sales-lady for Jewelcor Co., Wilkes-Barre, and Pomeroy's Department Store, Wilkes-Barre.

She was a wonderful housekeeper serving many families in the Wyoming Valley.

She was a former member of St. Joseph's Monastery, Wilkes-Barre Township, and was presently a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; and her sister, Eleanor Simonovich, who recently died July 8, 2014.

Surviving are her son, David Baranowski, at home; her grandsons, Michael and Daniel; her great-grandson, Daniel III; great-granddaughters, Kaylyn and Layla; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. Family and friends may call from 8 to 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
