Joseph G. Pechal, 74, of Swoyersville passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at his home.

Born Oct. 14, 1939, in Kingston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Pishola Pechal.
Joe worked for 11 years in local area coal mines before going into the automotive industry. He owned and operated his auto repair shop from 1968 to 1978. In 1978 his son, Joseph, joined him in the family business, in which he remained currently active.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Pechal.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Levitsky Pechal; son, Joseph D. Pechal, Swoyersville; brother, Raymond Pechal and his wife, Mary Lou, Swoyersville; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville.
Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
