Edward D. (Ed) Hugick, 80, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born Dec. 18, 1933, in Salem Township, he was a son of the late James and Kathryn Buczewski Hugick.

After graduating high school, Ed went on to serve during the Korean War as a U.S. Marine.

For 38 years Ed worked as a chemist for Wise Foods Inc., Berwick, where he retired at age 62.

He enjoyed golfing, working out at the gym and walking. He also was a pilot and enjoyed flying planes.

Ed was a member of Shawnee American Legion Post 463, Plymouth, and ACS Chemistry for Life, since 1976.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 34 years, the former Janet M. Daniels; brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Henry, George, Paul and Raymond Hugick; and sisters, Genevieve Karns and Caroline VanHoomissen.

Left to honor his memory are a brother, Leonard Hugick, Rochester, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday from Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Carol E. Coleman officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
