Robert F. Smith Sr., 93, of Larksville passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at home.

He was born May 17, 1921, in Larksville, was the son of the late Pearl Rhinus Smith and the late Patrick Smith, attended Larksville schools and was a miner.

Robert was a World War II Army veteran serving in Europe, France and Germany, was a member of the Larksville American Legion and the Larksville Mountain Full Gospel Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Smith; sisters and a brother, Elizabeth (Toots), Dorothea, Emma, Lydia and Edward; and great-grandchild, Michaela Bell Goss.

He is survived by his children, Sharen and husband, Donald Holdrege Sr., Diane and husband, John Goss, Robert F. Smith Jr. and wife, Shirley M. Pearl Smith, Patrick Smith and wife, Susan, Lydia and husband, Joseph Chacke Jr., and Beverly and husband, Robert Smith; sister, Violette Carr; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Williams-Hagen Funeral Home Inc., 114 W. Main St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Gloria Jenkins officating. Interment will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
