Margaret T. Cook Kern, a resident of the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre for 84 years, and for the last 10 months a resident of Guardian Elder Care in Nanticoke, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas Kern, who passed away May 12, 1986.

Born Monday, Sept. 15, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre Township, she was a daughter of the late Stephen Cook and Ann Gronauer Cook.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by her brothers, Anthony, John, Joseph, Stephen, John and Thomas Cook, and infant sister, Ann Cook.
Surviving are her daughters, Margaret and husband, David Cole, Wilkes-Barre; and Alberta Kern, Pittston; granddaughter, Ann and husband, Jason Majeros, Nanticoke; great-granddaughters, Caitlyn and Emily Majeros; and sister, Dorothy Czyzewicz, Hanover Township. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. Friday. Those who plan on attending are asked to be at the funeral home no later than 8:15 a.m. Friday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of Fatima Parish, St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, 134 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Interment services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover.
