Irene DiRienzo, 94, a life resident of Mount Carmel, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 2014, at the Kingston Health Care Center, Kingston, where she resided the past year.

Born in Mount Carmel, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Matzura Troyan. She was the widow of the late Eugene DiRienzo, who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1989.
She worked for a time in area garment factories and later was a housewife and enjoyed knitting and visits with her two beloved grandsons.
Irene was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Regina Thackara and her husband, Thomas, Kingston; two grandsons, Eugene Thackara and his wife, Kim, Yeadon; and David Thackara and his wife, Susan, Wyoming; three sisters, Mary, Connecticut; Mildred, Mount Carmel; and Anna, Florida; two brothers, Joseph, Havertown; and Cyril, North Carolina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve and Katherine, and four brothers, Russell, Matthew, Emmanuel and John.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Kingston Health Care Center for giving loving care to Irene during the past year.
Divine Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 131 N. Beech St., Mount Carmel, with the Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Hutsko officiating.
Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, with a Panahyda service at 10:15 a.m., in C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
