Bobby G. Shirley, 72, of Falls passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at home. He was the loving husband of 50 years married to the former Jerilyn Whitbeck.

Born Sept. 27, 1941, in Pampa, Texas, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Lee Carter Shirley.

Bobby was raised in Levelland, Texas, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962 on the destroyer USS Myles C. Fox as a radioman and attained the rank of petty officer third class.

Bobby was employed throughout his life by various companies in engineering positions, including the Ford Motor Co., Specialty Records and the Tunkhannock Area School District, from where he retired.

Bobby will always be remembered for his integrity, relentless sprit and willingness to assist and mentor others. He will also be remembered for his ability to fix anything, his funny stories and large personality. He was well liked by all who had the opportunity to meet him. Until we meet again Big Guy, we'll be "hangin in."

Also surviving are two daughters, Krisanne Lynn and husband, Thomas, Wilkes-Barre; and Dr. Kara Lee Shirley, Portland, Ore.; a brother, John Shirley, Levelland, Texas; a sister, Vickey Nichelson, Levelland, Texas; and grandchildren, Aidan Kristopher Lynn, Amanda Guarneri and Thomas Lynn Jr.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
