Madelyn Rush, 72, of Wilkes-Barre passed away in her sleep Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Plains Township.

She was born Feb. 28, 1942, in Avoca, a daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia Keivak Ostrowski.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore G. Rush; sister, Amelia Miller; and brothers, Albert, Joseph and Robert Ostrowski.

Madelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Some of her favorite pastimes included spending time with her grandchildren, dancing, playing bingo, and listening to anything from Elvis.

The family would like to thank the staff of Timber Ridge for the loving care that they provided for Madelyn.

Surviving are her daughters, Ann Marie Charney and her husband, Leo, Dallas; and Shirley Gabriele and her husband, Michael, Wilkes-Barre; sons, Anthony Rush, Wilkes-Barre; Theodore Rush, Berwick; Daniel Rush, Scranton; and Brian Rush, Scranton; grandchildren, Cale and Alyssa Charney, Yarin and Flannery Rush and Connor and Natalie Gabriele; sisters, Shirley Darsky, Jenkins Township; Joan Orechovsky, Binghamton, N.Y.; and Evelyn Falchek, Plains Township; many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict's Parish, Austin Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
