Irvin Chester Barber, 91, formerly of Dallas, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Life Care Center, Collegedale, Tenn.

Irvin was born in Wilkes-Barre Township (Bald Mountain), son of the late Westley and Wealthy Coleman Barber.
He attended the Fairview Township schools. He was a mechanic with Procter & Gamble, Mehoopany.
Irvin was a member of the former East Dallas United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Plymouth Lodge 332 F & AM.
Irvin was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Pearl Mae Stiles; a son, Ernest Barber; great-granddaughter, Charlie Zook; brothers, Nelson and Merle; and sister, Bessie Wech.
He is survived by his sons, Irvin C. Barber and Gary W. Barber; daughter, Linda L. Culver; sister, Barbara Gardner; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at River of Life Fellowship, Outlet Road, Dallas. Those attending the funeral are to go directly to River of Life Fellowship. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
