John Gary Smacher, 56, of Wilkes-Barre, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018.

He was born May 17, 1961, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of John and Genevieve Smacher.

He was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Class of 1979 and was employed by the Operating Engineers. Later, he was self-employed in the construction trades.

Gary's delights in life were the outdoors and motocross racing.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Jerard Lukachinsky; brother-in-law, Gerard Lukachinsky; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Surviving are his parents, John and Genevieve Smacher; sister, Bonnie Lukachinsky; nephews, Jason Lukachinsky and his wife, Kara, Plains Twp.; and Jared Lukachinsky and Maggie, Bear Creek; and companion, Linda Emerich.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Andy Jerome, pastor of Parsons Primitive Methodist Church.

Friends may call from noon until the time of the service on Monday.
