Olga Duffy, 85, of West Hazleton passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, April 14, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, surrounded by loving family.

Olga was born and raised in Hazleton, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Voloshin Sakoskie. She was a 1949 graduate of Hazleton High School. For many years, she was employed as a dental hygienist.

In 1957, she married the love of her life, Eugene Duffy. Prior to his death, they celebrated 47 years of marriage. Her greatest joy was being a wife and homemaker to her family.

Olga was a devout Catholic and had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Hazleton, and was currently a member of Good Shepherd Church, Drums.

She was a life member of the Valley Country Club, Conyngham, participating in the ladies golf and bowling leagues. She was also a member of the Ladies Lions Club of West Hazleton. In earlier years she was active in the local chapter of the Girl Scouts.

Olga was an avid sports fan. She cheered on her favorite professional team, the Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame College football team. Often she would make a friendly wager on games.

Olga was blessed to have lifelong friendships with so many wonderful people. She was saddened to have outlived many friends. She will now be reunited in Heaven with her husband, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Duffy in 2004; and a brother, Donald Sakoskie.

Olga is survived by her loving children, Colleen Duffy Pastore and husband, Fred, Salisbury, Md.; and Eugene Duffy, Plains Twp. Also surviving are her brother and sister, Michael Sakoskie, Weatherly; and Carol Eson, Stevensville, Md.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Good Shepherd Church, Drums. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church prior to the Mass.
