Fredrick K. "Fred" Adams, 81, of Courtdale, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, in Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre after a valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm faith in the Lord supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Born in Hunlock Creek, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Arlene Adams. He was educated in a one-room schoolhouse and later attended the Lake-Lehman Schools. He was a member of the Grace Independent Baptist Church in Wapwallopen.

Fred worked in construction for most of his life and, in his later years, enjoyed working at the Wyoming Valley Country Club. Fred was a fantastic bowler and golfer, a great cook, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and his beloved dogs. Most of all, "Poppy Fred" enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas; brother-in-law, Bud Austin; and nephew, George Kliamovich.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of more than 16 years, Ellie; and his step-children, David Olson and wife, Debbie; Deborah Kachmar and husband, Craig; Lori Stillarty and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Danielle, Adam, Makenzie, Rebecca, Jillian and Morgan; sister, Beverly Austin; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Grace Independent Baptist Church, 1164 Blue Ridge Trail, Wapwallopen, with pastor Brian Korner, officiating.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
