Mary Claire "Moo" Blackwell, 85, of Moosic, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Allied Hospice and Health Care Center, Scranton. She was born in Wyoming Aug. 17, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Jack "Tennant" Walsh and Jenny Lyons Walsh.

Mary Claire was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School. She was employed by Bell Telephone, Rocky Glen Amusement Park, Montage Mountain, and she retired from Kmart in Moosic.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Blackwell, who died Nov. 18, 1994; and her sister, Bobby Thompson.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane and her husband, Charles Vermac Sr., Avoca; her grandchildren, Charles Jr. and Belle Vermac; and her four-legged companion, Lilly.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, with the Rev. Phillip Sladicka officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be held in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
