Lucy Mech, 87, of Lincoln Avenue, Nanticoke, and formerly East Ridge Street, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in the Emergency Room at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born on Jan. 5, 1925, in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Carmen (Most) Musto and Grace Summa Musto. She graduated from Nanticoke High School, Class of 1943, and worked for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Md. until her marriage to Michael Mech in 1946. In later years she worked in a cigar factory and was last employed at the former Alta Products, Hanover Township, until it closed.

She was a a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, and had been a life-long member of St. Francis of Assisi Church until its closing.

Her husband, Michael Mech, passed away on June 20, 1968. She was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by an infant brother, Eugene; and sisters, Angela Wisniewski, Carminella Musto, Louise Lasecki and Vita Stachyra.

Surviving is her daughter, Vita Grace Murray and her husband, Joseph, with whom she resided for the past three years; grandchildren, Seana Murray and her husband, Michael Miller, Kirkland, Wash.; and Ian Murray, Nanticoke; a great-granddaughter, Avery Miller, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke. A Christian Wake Service will be held during the visitation.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Kowalska Parish/Holy Trinity Church, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. James Nash as celebrant. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Thursday morning. There will be no procession from the funeral home.

Interment will follow in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Nanticoke.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Mrs. Mech's memory be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant St., 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1916, or to the Renovation Fund at St. Faustina Parish, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, PA 18634.
