Bernadine Hendrzak Rydsewicz, formerly of Wilkes Barre Township, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at home in Ballston Spa, N.Y.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born Nov. 28, 1922, to John and Julia Hendrzak, she was the oldest of six children. She married Joseph Rydsewicz in 1947.
In addition to her husband she was the loving caretaker of both of her parents and her brother, John Hendrzak, prior to their passings.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Rydsewicz, Hazleton; and daughter, Christine Reed and three grandsons, Eric, Trevor and Bret Reed, Ballston Spa, N.Y.
Also surviving are her sister, Eleanor Pliscott, Sun City Center, Fla.; her brothers, Bernard Hendrzak and Edward Hendrzak, Wilkes-Barre; and Richard (Antoinette) Hendrzak, Sewell, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
"Bernie" loved her large Polish family and welcomed their visits to the family homestead. She enjoyed cooking, baking, working in her flower garden and reading her newspaper on the front porch. Visiting her numerous cousins on their farms in Tunkhannock was a favorite summer pastime of hers. Always interested in politics, she never missed voting and cast her last ballot a week before her passing.
She spent her last three years with her daughter and grandsons in Ballston Spa, N.Y., where a private family memorial service will be held.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Gateway House of Peace Hospice by sending them to her daughter, Christine Reed, 15 Axe St., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
