John Sapp, 77, of Mountain Top passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.

He was born June 6, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre. He was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Sapp. He attended Coughlin High School and earned a GED in the armed services.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, serving from December 1953 until October 1957 during the Korean War.
He was employed for 12 years by RCA, Mountain Top, as a tool and die maker. He also was previously employed by various construction companies, and became a self-employed excavating contractor.
Throughout his life he was a man of faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra; his sister, Esther Dancheck; and his brothers, George and Stephen Sapp.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Anna Kuzemko Sapp, Mountain Top; his son, John; his sisters, Evelyn Suhoski, Bear Creek Township; and Justine Gulczynski, Mountain Top; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 635 N. River St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Plains Township, with military honors being accorded. Friends and family may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township.
