Frank Dempsey, 72, of Plymouth passed into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.

Born Jan. 12, 1940 in Plymouth, he was the son of Anna Oshirak Dempsey and the late Joseph Dempsey.

He was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1957, and was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church of Plymouth.

Prior to retirement, he was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot, as supervisor and computer operator. While he was employed there, he was the recipient of numerous awards, including two Sustained Superior Performance awards, letters of appreciation, an outstanding performance citation and a special act award. Prior to this, he was employed by Atwater Throwing Co. of Plymouth. Frank was presently employed by King's College in security.

He served as a fire control specialist in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Frank greatly enjoyed spending his time with the church activities, especially the parish bazaar. He loved spending time with his family and time outdoors. He was very helpful and was always helping others.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, Anna, are his wife of 47 years, the former Sonya Piscorik; children, Frank Dempsey and his wife, Trudi, Trucksville; and Darlene Wilcox, Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas and Brianne Dempsey, Julia and Jenna Wilcox and Justin and Brent Carder; brother, Joseph Dempsey and his wife, Martha, Plymouth; sisters, Irene Frisbie and her husband, Leonard, Plymouth; Anna Magill, Shavertown; Barbara Powell and her husband, Richard, Boco Raton, Fla.; Eliza Burke and her husband, Joseph, Nanticoke; and Carol Dempsey, Philadelphia; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday from the S.J.Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. in Ss. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Plymouth. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Parastas Service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Volodymyr Popyk, pastor, officiating.
