Theresa Lois Blaum, 78, of Forty Fort died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Theresa (Terry) was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre and was the daughter of the late Carl and Theresa Henry.

Terry graduated from St. Nicholas Grade School and St. Nicholas High School. Theresa earned her bachelor's degree in home economics from College Misericordia, Dallas Township, with the academic honor of magna cum laude.

Theresa was employed by Pennsylvania Power and Light Co. as a home economist and was a substitute teacher for many area high schools. Terry was the librarian at Bishop Hoban High School for many years before retiring in 2004.

She will be most remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother to her family.

Theresa was a member of many local community organizations, including the American Home Economics Association, College Misericordia Alumni Association and Board of Directors, Pennsylvania State Education Association, St. Conrad's Society, German-Austria Club, the former Circle Eight Square Dancers, St. Nicholas Parish and Choir, and the Big Band Association.

Theresa was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed dancing, singing, travel and visiting her many children and grandchildren.

She also enjoyed volunteering at Candy's Place Cancer Resource Center to assist and share her journey with cancer patients like herself. She was an avid dog lover and will be missed dearly by her dogs, Adele and Heidi.

Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Philip; her six children, Kathleen Hannon and husband, Edward, Whiting, N.J.; Paul and wife, Ann, Fayetteville, Ga.; Fredrick and friend, Debby Eyerman, Swoyersville; James and wife, Laurie, Shavertown; John and wife, Maureen, Malta, N.Y.; and Donna (deceased). Terry was greatly loved by her 11 grandchildren, Erin, Shawn, Brian and Kayla Hannon, Donna and John Blaum, Matthew, Emily and Caitlin Blaum, Kathryn and Sarah Blaum; and one great-grandchild, Tenley Hardifer (Hannon).

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, with Monsignor Joseph Rauscher officiating.

Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Forty Fort.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Theresa L. Blaum to St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen, Wilkes-Barre, and Candy's Place Cancer Resource Center, Forty Fort.
