Ronald C. Hine, 56, of Shavertown passed into eternal life Sunday morning, Feb. 17, 2013, in the Cedar Crest Boulevard campus of the Lehigh Valley Hospital System, Allentown, following complications after being stricken ill earlier in the week.

Born Nov. 10, 1956, in Susquehanna, he is the son of Dorothy L. (Wayman) Hine Tyler of Susquehanna and the late Clifton B. Hine.
Educated in the Susquehanna County schools, Ron was a graduate of the Blue Ridge High School, New Milford, Class of 1975.
He was employed as the purchasing manager by Payne Printery of Dallas. Prior to that, he worked part-time for Riders World of Wilkes-Barre, and several years for FedEx Ground, Techneglas, the former Stroehmann Bakery and the Hallstead Iron Foundry. He previously was involved with the Youth for Christ in Susquehanna County, as well as the 4-H Club.
He attended the Cross Creek Community Church, Carverton Road, Shavertown.
Enjoying sports, he previously followed closely with his children's sporting events, being a past assistant coach for both the Back Mountain Youth Baseball and Youth Soccer leagues, and is remembered as being an avid Penn State football fan.
Enjoying the outdoors, Ron was an avid hunter and fisherman, teaching these skills to all three of his children. He was a life member of both the North American Hunting and Fishing clubs, and was instrumental for organizing the very first annual Hine family Labor Day campout on the Hine family farm, which continues to the present day. In addition to gathering his family for outings, Ron enjoyed family ancestry and genealogy, a passion that led him to meet distant relatives on a recent trip to Connecticut.
Ron was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed his time working with Riders World. He was noted along with his wife, the former Joan Marie Schultz, and family in a Father's Day article by The Times Leader on June 20, 1993, for having an active role in delivering his third child at the family home. He and his wife, Joanie, celebrated 32 years of married life together on Sept. 13, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton B. Hine, in 1996; and by several aunts and uncles.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Joanie, at home, and his mother Dorothy and her husband, William Tyler, are Ron and Joanie's children, Corey, a Ph.D. chemistry candidate at Syracuse University; Megan, a senior in business management at St. Francis University, Loretto; and Keven, a sophomore in information technology at Penn State University Wilkes-Barre campus; brothers and a sister, Jerry and Karen Hine, New Milford; Randy and Cathy Hine, Dover, Fla.; Mark and Amy Hine, New Milford; Christopher and Kristy Hine, Lewistown; and Doreen and Kevin Howard, Factoryville; several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins; brothers and sisters-in-law, including Cathy and Ray Jackubowski, Shavertown; Mary Jean Schultz, Kingston; Larry and Joanne Schultz, Trucksville; Betsy and Mark Theis, East Stroudsburg; Kenny and Susie Schultz, Harding; Janet and Len Price, Nuangola; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ron will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Wilkes-Barre Heights location of John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 281 E. Northampton St., with the Rev. Dave Martin, pastor of Cross Creek Community Church, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cemetery, Pioneer Avenue, Shavertown section of Kingston Township.
Relatives and friends may join Ron's family for visitation and remembrances from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
