John Joseph Powell, 50, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the home of his fiancee Dorene Guillot.

Born Dec. 18, 1962, in Bristol, he was the son of Ann Powell and the late Paul Powell.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Powell and Paula Powell.

Surviving are his siblings, Lou Ann Powell, Paul Powell, Cheri Powell-Ihnots, Robert Powell and Anthony Powell.

John also left behind his sons, William Powell and his wife, Jessica Russell, Nanticoke; Kristopher Alan Powell and his wife, Tiffany Powell, Exeter; and daughter, Tonya Marie Powell and her fiance, Cory Williams, Nanticoke; mother of his children, Lynn Tomassacci, Nanticoke.

John was also the loving grandfather of Aliyah Megan Powell, Harmony Ilyssa Powell, Paige Olivia Powell, Maialiyah Seabridge and Princess Gummie Bear (in the oven).

John was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He firmly believed in passing his time doing service work for others.

His biggest and most important goal in his life was "tryin' to get to heaven before they close the door." Everyone in his life knows he has returned to his Father in heaven so he can continue to grow and help others in his never ending path to righteousness.

We will all miss seeing the twinkle in his eye and the smile on his face.

There will be a memorial service at noon Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 80 Manor Drive, Shavertown. All friends and family are welcome.

We love you, John!

Arrangements are by Yeosock Funeral Home.
