Luis Orlando Cruz, 63, of Charles Street, Newtown section of Hanover Township, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

He was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, on Oct. 29, 1949. He was the son of the late Antonio and Aurora Feliciano Cruz.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from November 1968 to October 1970.

He was a member of the National Chapter of the American Legion.

In his younger days, he enjoyed gardening, landscaping, listening to music and entertaining family and friends by playing the guitar and drums.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Cruz.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Frances A. Jean; daughters, Monica Suto and her husband, Brian, and Denisse Mrugal and her husband, Mark; son, David Cruz; three grandchildren, Mariah, David Jr. and Emily; sister, Betty Soto and her husband, Louis; brother, Edwin Cruz; two nieces and two nephews.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
