R. G. Tony Sarcomo passed away at home in Mechanicsburg on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, with his loving wife at his side.

Born and raised in Long Branch, N.J., he was the son of the late Anthony and Anita Wolk Sarcomo. He was a graduate of King's College, Luzerne County Community College and LaSalle University. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) after serving 22½ years. He completed two tours for a total of 37 months in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam, and flew 162 combat missions. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he worked for Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration and retired from Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

He was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston; the Retired Enlisted Association; Non-Commissioned Officers Association of the United States of America, and the American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Sarcomo; grandparents, Armondo and Maria Sarcomo, Tillie Wolk.

Surviving are wife, Marcella Ann McCracken Sarcomo; sister, Patricia Reavy, The Villages, Fla.; sons, Tony Ray Sarcomo and his wife, Amy, Colorado Springs, Colo.; LTC Gino Sarcomo and his wife, Robyn, Minot AFB, N.D.; grandchildren, Terra and Tony Ray Sarcomo, Colorado Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Calogero and Tyberius Sarcomo, Colorado Springs, Colo.; aunt, Laura Deane, Arlington, Va.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Rock Street, Hughestown. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
