Meier, Belinda  
Belinda Susanne Meier Belinda Susanne Meier, 32, Topeka KS, died at 7:30 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2015, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident 6 miles south of Topeka. Belinda was born September 14, 1982, in Topeka, KS and was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a Life Enhancement Coordinator at Aldersgate Village Retirement Community as well as a bartender at the Wild Horse Saloon. Belinda was a very loving and caring person who always had a smile on her face that could light up not just the room, but the world. Whether it was her friends, family, coworkers, or Alzheimer s patients she always had time to listen to anyone and no problem was too big for her to tackle for someone in need. Belinda recently took up ballet again at Kansas Ballet Academy and had become a Fitbit enthusiast. Belinda had a love for life and a passion for her work that was surpassed by her love and passion for her friends and family. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Every single person she befriended or who called her a member of the family was made a better person from knowing her. She was a light that will continue to be a source of inspiration, love, and compassion that will never dim and was truly loved by her friends and family, and she truly loved them in return. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Maggie and Bob Walshire; her father and step-mother, Augie G. Meier Jr. and Joyce Rakestraw; brother, Augie G. Meier III; sister, Bridget Meier; sister-in-law, Nicole Meier; three step-brothers, Jared Rakestraw, Jeremy Rakestraw and Ben Walshire; two step-sisters, Jessica Rakestraw and Anne Cleverton; one nephew, Augie G. Meier IV; one niece and goddaughter, Elizabeth Meier; step-nephews, Jonathon, Justin, Caleb; step-nieces, Kayla, Courtney, Kylie, and Kate; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by grandparents, Florian and Mary Fuhr, Augie and Lucille Meier, and Bill and Edna Stapleton. Family will receive friends at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25th, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26th, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Mitchel Zimmerman and Father Tim Haberkorn will concelebrate. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Rakestraw, Jared Rakestraw, Ben Walshire, Matt Briden, K.C. McDonald, and Jason Owens. Mills Jr., Dr. Philip  
Dr. Philip E. Mills Jr. Dr. Philip E. Mills Jr., 78, recently retired to Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away there on March 11, 2015. He was born in 1936 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Philip E. Mills Sr. and Marjorie Mae (Gross) Mills. After graduating from Topeka High School, Phil attended Harvard University on an ROTC scholarship and served in the Air Force in Madison, Wisconsin and Topeka. During this period he met and married his wife, Jean (1939-2011). Phil completed Kansas University Medical School in 1964, graduating first in his class. Subsequently he completed an internship in San Francisco, a residency in Cleveland, and began practice as a neurologist in 1969 in Santa Barbara. Strong ties to the city of his childhood brought him home to Topeka in 1971. He continued his work as a neurologist in private practice, and later for the Menninger Foundation neurological group. He retired as a physician in 1985, but then began a decades-long farming career north of Silver Lake. Phil was an excellent local tennis player, loved duck hunting in the area, and remained a loyal fan of Jayhawk athletics (with some K-State leanings in his later years). Phil s life revolved around his wife, family, local friends, and colleagues, as well as his years dedicated to many patients. Phil is survived by his three children, Allison Thornbrugh of Castle Rock, David Mills of Huntington, WV, and Alan Mills of Racine, WI; his seven grandchildren; his brother, Dick Mills of Edgemont, AR; and his sister, Patty Petersen of Portland, OR. Finally, the family would like to thank profusely the excellent nursing and support staffs in Colorado at Bonaventure Senior Living, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Peak View Behavioral Clinic, Penrose/St. Francis Hospital, and Suncrest Care. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 am today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Mitchell, Loren  
Loren Dale Mitchell HOLTON- Loren Dale Mitchell, 67, of Holton, KS passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at his home with family by his side; after a 17 year battle with cancer. He was born August 6, 1947 in Centralia, the son of Glen and Esther (Taylor) Mitchell. Loren graduated from Circleville High School in 1965. He worked for Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company for 35 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton, Circleville Masonic Lodge, Holton Country Club and United Steel Workers Local #307. Loren leaves and will be dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Beth (Jackman) Mitchell. He is also survived by his daughter, Loralie Koca (Randy) of Shawnee, KS; his son, Eric Mitchell (Karen) of Platte City, MO; 5 grandchildren, Madison, Mitchell and Morgan Koca and Jordan and Justin Mitchell; 2 brothers, Lloyd Mitchell of Meriden and David Mitchell (Linda) of Circleville; 2 sisters-in-law, Sandy Gilbert of Holton and Sue Jackman of Sabetha; and brothers-in-law, Russell Stauffer of Sabetha and Gary Jackman of Topeka. He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Amy; son-in-law, Dylan and 2 granddaughters, Chase and Ansley, killed in an airplane accident on Good Friday in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Esther Mitchell; a brother, Norman Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Jackie Mitchell and Louise Stauffer; brother-in-law, Raymond Jackman and his in-laws, Clarence and Minnie Jackman. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Circleville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1:00 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Charles Edmond Chuckie Moore Charles Edmond Chuckie Moore, 64, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 30, 1950 at Topeka, KS, the son of Carl E. and Marcell Oetinger Moore. Chuckie had been a resident at the Kansas Neurological Institute since 1961. He was also an organ donor. Charles was preceded in death by his father Carl on June 28, 2008. Survivors include his mother, Marcell Moore, Olathe, KS; two sisters, Carlene Benson, Shawnee, KS, Deborah (Doug) Eichhorn, Boise, ID; one brother, Michael (Patsey) Moore, Olathe, KS; a beloved foster grandmother, Vera Sturm, Topeka, KS; and many friends and care givers at KNI. A graveside funeral will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Shawnee Center Cemetery, Wakarusa, KS. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Kansas Neurological Institute, Wheatland Center, Middle Core, 3107 SW 21st. St., Topeka, KS, where the family will greet friends and relatives. Cindy M. (Finley) Moore Cindy M. (Finley) Moore, 51, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015. She was born November 2, 1963 in Topeka, the daughter of James and Nancy Stamm Finley. She graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1982. She was employed as a bus driver for USD 450 for several years. She was very active in her children s various activities. Cindy married Kirk Moore in 1982. They later divorced. Survivors include seven children, Nicholas (Heather) Moore, Clayton Moore, Kayla (Chad Fay) Moore, W. Andrew (Stefani) Moore, Luke (Erica Troupe) Moore, Micah Moore and Noah Moore, six grandchildren, Treyton, Olive, Ivey, Weston, Paige and Laekynn, her parents, James and Nancy Finley of Topeka and several nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her grandmother, Helen Marx, her sister, Robin Nicholson and her brother, Todd Finley. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
