Dorothy Reichart Dorothy Reichart passed away on April 9, 2014. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on February 20, 1931, to Clarence E. and Edna Lucille Bleckley. Dorothy was a graduate of THS and attended Washburn University where she met the love of her life, Jerry Reichart. They were married on December 30, 1950. She enjoyed sharing his life as a coach, attending his ball games, helping him on his farm, and traveling around the country together. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, First United Methodist Church, the Woman's Department Club, PEO Chapter CS, and numerous bridge clubs. She worked as an Executive secretary for AT&T for many years and was active in their Pioneer Club. Following her retirement she served as a docent at both the Kansas State Historical Museum and the Art Museum at Washburn University. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her much loved husband, Jerry. Survivors include one sister and her husband, Nancy and Dean Erwin of Shreveport, La., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She treasured her many friends with whom she and Jerry played bridge, danced, and traveled extensively She will be missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12 in the Klasse Chapel at First UMC, 600 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Washburn University's Athletic Scholarship Fund in Jerry's name. Viola Smalley Rohlmeier Viola Ruth Emma Kuehnert (Smalley) Rohlmeier (88) of Topeka, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2014, at the House at Midland Care. Vi was born February 20, 1926, to Paul and Anna (Otte) Kuehnert on a farm near Clarinda, Iowa. After high school in 1943, she worked for the Supply Depot at the Air Force Base in Shelby, Ohio, and soon transferred to Topeka KS, where she worked as a teletype operator at Forbes Air Force Base. She was instrumental in starting Cross Ambulance Service that was in business from 1959-1976. Vi worked several years in the hotel business and then retired at age 85 after eleven years at Bryan's Liquor Store in Auburn, KS. Vi started the pitch group on Wednesday nights at the Auburn Community Center. Vi is survived by her three children, Joyce (Ken) Bass, Janice Smalley, Bill (Bev) Smalley, all of Topeka KS. She has four grandchildren: Stephen (Aleah) Bass and Kimberly Bass, Todd Smalley and Kelsey Smalley, and two great-grandchildren, Hagen and Amelia Bass. She married Ray Smalley, they divorced and she married Eugene Rohlmeier. They both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marie Reins and Dorothy Oyler. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at the cemetery in Auburn, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606, the Alzheimer's Association, 3625 SW 29th Street, Suite 102, Topeka, KS 66614 or to St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka, KS 66606.
