David Douglass

David A. Douglass David A. Douglass, 84, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was born June 14, 1929, in Connersville, Indiana, the son of Mark and Verna (McKillip) Douglass. He was a graduate of Hanover College in Indiana and attended Indiana University. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran. David married Peggie Annette Douglass on February 1, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Jami (husband Don) Colson; son, Gary Douglass; grandsons, Jordon Colson, Brandon (wife Brianne) Bailey, and Brian Bailey; and great-granddaughter, Janelle Marie Bailey. David was a member of West Topeka Rotary, Sigma Chi, and First Presbyterian Church. He was a trustee, elder, and served as treasurer of the church for 19 years. David was a financial analyst for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in Washington and Vice President and Director of Supervision for Federal Home Loan Bank in Topeka. He served as the last savings and loan commissioner for the State of Kansas. His hobbies included books, music, birds, wildlife, and geology. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison Street, Topeka, Kansas 66612.
