Edgar Allen Drake

LARNED Edgar Allen Drake, 72, died November 8, 2010 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned, Kansas. He was born June 5, 1938 at Wamego, the son of Malcolm K. and Rheva A. Meskimen Drake. Edgar was a Larned resident for 1 1/2 years, moving from Topeka. He was a retired meter man for Westar Energy. He was a member of the American Legion Post #225 of Ozawkie, Kansas. Ed worked for the Rock Island Railroad, joined the Air Force for four years and worked until his retirement (38 years) for KPL/Westar Energy. On September 6, 1964, he married Connie Banker at Liberal, Kansas. On March 2, 1985 he married Judy S. Murray at Topeka, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jeffery A. Drake, Durham, North Carolina and Matthew and wife Jane Drake, Edwardsville, Illinois; a step-son, Jason and wife Angie Murray, Larned; a brother, George and wife Lynn Drake, Overbrook, Kansas; two sisters, Mary Drake and Dona Mitchell, both of Topeka; and four grandchildren, Ian, Cameron, Christian and Creighton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Drake. Eds desire was to have a get-together for friends and family at the Wamego Senior Center, November 20th, 2010 at Noon. Inurnment will be in the Wamego Cemetery following his cremation.
