Mark Flynn

Mark Raymond Flynn Mark Raymond Flynn, 77, of Topeka died Thursday, January 2, 2014. He was born September 19, 1936 in Atchison, KS to Michael and Elizabeth (Arensberg) Flynn. He graduated from Maur Hill High School and Saint Benedict's College. He received a Master's of Guidance and Counseling from Kansas State University. He taught and coached at Sacred Heart High School in Salina before moving on to a career in the Insurance business. He married Karen Ellsworth on his birthday in 1959. He was the first athlete inducted into the Benedictine College hall of fame in 1987. He was preceded in death by all in his immediate family. He is survived by his wife Karen, Topeka; three daughters, Megan Flynn, Austin, TX, Erin Flynn, Topeka, Bridget Richmond, Fredricksburg, TX; and two sons, Michael Flynn, Topeka, and Patrick Flynn, Austin; 10 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Ever the student, he posthumously sought and received a doctorate in exploratory research at the University of Texas San Antonio. While no immediate services will be held, a music filled celebration of his life is planned for June 2014 in Topeka.
