Patricia Ann (Luksa) Eakes, 82, of Topeka, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Friday, February 21, 2014.
Pat was born October 20, 1931, in Topeka KS, the daughter of Henry and Aletha (Atkins) Luksa. She grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1949. On September 9, 1950, she married Paul "Semo" Eakes. They celebrated 63 years together. He predeceased her on October 31, 2013. Pat was a devoted wife and mother, who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed golfing, time at the lake with friends and dancing at the VFW. Pat and Paul were avid water skiers even up to age 80. Pat worked for the Kansas State Legislature during sessions for twenty years. She and Paul were members of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. They spent time traveling, enjoyed Hawaii and Greece. They returned to Germany, where Paul had been stationed during his service in the Army, and where they lived during their first year of marriage.
Surviving Pat are her children, Paula Jacobs (Tom), Tucson AZ, Pam Wendt, Topeka KS, Brad Eakes (Connie), Topeka KS; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding Pat in death were her parents and her brother, Donald Luksa.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. beginning with a parish rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Funeral service for Pat will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
