Alvina Mary Bullock, age 82, of Carbondale died September 17, 2012, at Brookside Manor in Overbrook, Kansas. She was born March 8, 1930, in Osborne, Kansas, the daughter of George and Eliza Roenne. She graduated from Osborne High School with the class of 1947. Mary graduated from Brown Mackie Business College, Salina, Kansas in 1948. She was a member of the Scranton Covenant Church, the Covenant Women, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2709 all of Scranton, Kansas. She also was a honorary member of the Lyndon Saddle Club of Lyndon, Kansas. Mary was united in marriage with Carl W. Bullock, Sr. on July 4, 1948 in Osborne, Kansas. Carl precedes her in death. Ms. Bullock retired from Security Benefit Group, Inc. in 1993 after working there in various positions for 26 years. She later worked as a Paraprofessional at Carbondale Grade School and then Ogden Publications in Topeka for a number of years. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eliza Roenne and Gladys Forbes; and one brother, George Roenne. Mary is survived by five children; Carl W. Bullock, Jr. of Rapid City, South Dakota, Charles W. Bullock of Gate City, West Virginia, David Lee Bullock of Lawrence, Kansas, Gloria Ann Bullock of Carbondale, Kansas, Mary Frances Bullock of Carbondale, Kansas; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Scranton Crossroads Church, Scranton. Burial will follow at the Scranton Cemetery in Scranton, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home in Overbrook, Kansas.
